  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to insurance; health; requiring the 
  1.3             commissioners of commerce and health to study and 
  1.4             develop methods of promoting alternative, 
  1.5             cost-effective treatments for illness and disease 
  1.6             while ensuring that insurers cover such alternative 
  1.7             treatments. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  [ALTERNATIVE TREATMENTS; STUDY.] 
  1.10     The commissioners of commerce and health shall jointly 
  1.11  study and develop methods for promoting the use of alternative, 
  1.12  cost-effective treatments for illness and disease.  The 
  1.13  commissioners shall explore ways to ensure that insurance 
  1.14  companies cover such alternative treatments.  The commissioners 
  1.15  shall report their recommendations to the legislature by 
  1.16  February 15, 1996.
