relating to natural resources; appropriating money to address wildlife disease.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin WILDLIFE DISEASE MANAGEMENT; CHRONIC WASTING DISEASE;
APPROPRIATIONS.

new text begin (a) $1,560,000 in fiscal year 2020 is appropriated from the general fund to the
commissioner of natural resources for wildlife disease surveillance and response. Of this
amount, $208,000 is for response to escaped animals from Cervidae farms, including
inspection of farmed Cervidae, farmed Cervidae facilities, and farmed Cervidae records
when the commissioner has reasonable suspicion that laws protecting native wild animals
or other provisions of Minnesota Statutes, section 35.155, have been violated. This is a
onetime appropriation and is available until June 30, 2021.

new text begin (b) $....... in fiscal year 2020 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner
of natural resources to provide payments to private landowners for one-year-access contracts
with the state to provide access for whitetail deer management in chronic wasting disease
management zones and to contract with sharpshooters. This is a onetime appropriation and
is available until June 30, 2021.
