  1.2             relating to crime prevention; creating a grant program 
  1.3             to enhance confiscation of illegal firearms; 
  1.4             appropriating money; proposing coding for new law in 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes, chapter 299A. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [299A.375] [ILLEGAL FIREARM CONFISCATION 
  1.8   GRANTS.] 
  1.9      The commissioner shall develop a grant program to assist 
  1.10  local law enforcement agencies in enhancing efforts to 
  1.11  confiscate illegally possessed firearms. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.13     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.14  commissioner of public safety to implement the grant program 
  1.15  under section 1 to be available until August 30, 1997.
