  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; requiring the commissioner of 
  1.3             children, families, and learning to amend graduation 
  1.4             standards rules to add instruction in the history and 
  1.5             traditions of national symbols, including, but not 
  1.6             limited to, flags, oaths, and anthems. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [COMMISSIONER TO AMEND GRADUATION STANDARDS 
  1.9   RULES.] 
  1.10     The commissioner of children, families, and learning shall 
  1.11  amend Minnesota Rules, part 3501.0466, subpart 3, item C, to add 
  1.12  a new middle-level content standard to the social studies 
  1.13  learning area called "illustrating the history and traditions of 
  1.14  national symbols, including, but not limited to, flags, oaths, 
  1.15  and anthems." 
  1.16     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.17  following final enactment.
