  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for a levy for 
  1.3             independent school district No. 4, McGregor; 
  1.4             appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [INDEPENDENT SCHOOL DISTRICT NO. 4, MCGREGOR; 
  1.7   LEVY.] 
  1.8      Independent school district No. 4, McGregor, may levy, with 
  1.9   the approval of the commissioner, to eliminate a deficit in the 
  1.10  net unappropriated balance in the operating funds of the 
  1.11  district, determined and adjusted and certified by the 
  1.12  commissioner as of June 30, 1997.  This amount shall be reduced 
  1.13  by referendum revenue authorized under Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.14  section 124A.03, pursuant to a plan filed under Minnesota 
  1.15  Statutes, section 121.917, and any other revenue made available 
  1.16  for this purpose.  The total levy for all years it is made shall 
  1.17  not exceed the amount of the deficit.  The proceeds of this levy 
  1.18  or other available revenue shall only be used for cash flow 
  1.19  requirements and shall not be used to supplement district 
  1.20  revenue or income. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.22     $....... is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal 
  1.23  year 1998 to the commissioner of children, families, and 
  1.24  learning for a grant to independent school district No. 4, 
  1.25  McGregor, to reduce a net operating fund deficit.  This grant 
  2.1   shall be used according to the requirements of section 1.
