  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to elections; prohibiting certain 
  1.3             contributions made to affect the outcome of certain 
  1.4             school district special elections; proposing coding 
  1.5             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 205A. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [205A.055] [PROHIBITED CONTRIBUTIONS.] 
  1.8      A person may not contribute money or anything of value to 
  1.9   promote passage of a school district levy or other ballot 
  1.10  question at a school district special election or referendum if 
  1.11  the person has a contract with the school district or is 
  1.12  attempting or will attempt to obtain a contract with the school 
  1.13  district that will benefit the person financially and that 
  1.14  depends in whole or in part on the passage of the school 
  1.15  district levy or other ballot question. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     This act is effective the day following final enactment.
