A bill for an act
relating to disaster assistance; appropriating money to match federal disaster aid
for the April 2013 severe winter storm in southwest Minnesota.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; DISASTER AID.

new text begin (a) $1,500,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2014 to the
commissioner of public safety for the purposes specified in Minnesota Statutes, section
12A.15, subdivision 1, to match federal disaster assistance for the severe winter storm that
occurred April 9, 2013, through April 11, 2013, in the area designated under Presidential
Declaration of a Major Disaster FEMA-4113-DR. This appropriation is available for
expenditure the day following final enactment. Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes,
section 16A.28, this appropriation is available until June 30, 2016.

new text begin (b) $250,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal year 2014 to the
commissioner of public safety for the purposes specified in Minnesota Statutes, section
12A.15, subdivisions 2 and 2a, to remove debris and provide long-term recovery
assistance for the severe winter storm identified in paragraph (a). This appropriation is
available for expenditure the day following final enactment. Notwithstanding Minnesota
Statutes, section 16A.28, this appropriation is available until June 30, 2016.
