  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; providing continuous 
  1.3             medical assistance eligibility for 12 months for 
  1.4             certain children; amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, 
  1.5             section 256B.057, subdivision 2. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 256B.057, 
  1.8   subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 2.  [CHILDREN.] (a) A child one through five years of 
  1.10  age in a family whose countable income is less than 133 percent 
  1.11  of the federal poverty guidelines for the same family size, is 
  1.12  eligible for medical assistance.  A child six through 18 years 
  1.13  of age, who was born after September 30, 1983, in a family whose 
  1.14  countable income is less than 100 percent of the federal poverty 
  1.15  guidelines for the same family size is eligible for medical 
  1.16  assistance.  
  1.17     (b) Children two through 18 years of age who are eligible 
  1.18  for medical assistance under this chapter shall continue to be 
  1.19  eligible for 12 continuous months without reporting or 
  1.20  redetermination.
