  1.2             relating to economic development; providing economic 
  1.3             development funding to assist welfare-to-work 
  1.4             recipients; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [MINNESOTA INVESTMENT FUND; APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   commissioner of trade and economic development for the purpose 
  1.9   of the Minnesota investment fund.  Of this appropriation, 
  1.10  $....... shall be used for grants that give a preference to 
  1.11  businesses that have made a written commitment to seek out and 
  1.12  hire, at a livable wage and in jobs that have a career ladder, 
  1.13  persons who are moving from welfare to work.
