relating to state government; recognizing the Dakota and Ojibwe indigenous
languages in the state of Minnesota; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 10.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin The official indigenous languages in the state are Dakota and Ojibwe. The state recognizes
that the indigenous heritage languages of Native Americans are an integral part of their
culture and identity. It is in the interest of the state of Minnesota and Tribal Nations in the
state to promote and preserve the Dakota and Ojibwe languages.
