A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money to establish a Grand Portage Band
of Lake Superior Chippewa Tribal emergency management coordinator.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; LAKE SUPERIOR CHIPPEWA TRIBAL
EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR.

new text begin $145,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $145,000 in fiscal year 2025 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of public safety for a grant to the Grand Portage Band of
Lake Superior Chippewa to establish and maintain a Tribal emergency management
coordinator under Minnesota Statutes, section 12.25. The base in each of fiscal years 2026
and 2027 is $145,000.
