  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; proposing funding for a 
  1.3             telecommunications system for the library for the 
  1.4             blind; appropriating money.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATIONS; LIBRARY FOR THE BLIND.] 
  1.7      $238,000 in fiscal year 2002 and $194,000 in fiscal year 
  1.8   2003 are appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner 
  1.9   of children, families, and learning for the library for the 
  1.10  blind to replace a computer system, install a T1 
  1.11  telecommunications line, and fund the ongoing operational costs 
  1.12  of the computer system and T1 telecommunications line and two 
  1.13  permanent staff positions related to these functions.  Of these 
  1.14  appropriations, the $238,000 in fiscal year 2002 is one-time 
  1.15  funding only. 
  1.16     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day 
  1.17  following final enactment.
