A bill for an act
relating to state government; requiring exclusive representative for personal care
attendants to notify members of certain terms; requiring exclusive representative
to allow personal care attendants to terminate membership with 30-day notice;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 179A.52, by adding subdivisions.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 179A.52, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin Within 15 days of June 30 and December 30 each year, an
exclusive representative shall notify members in the appropriate unit under subdivision 2
that they are not required to be members of the exclusive representative or any employee
organization, and that nonmembers are not required to pay fair-share fees to the exclusive
representative.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 179A.52, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

not require more than 30 days' notice for a member to cancel membership without penalty.
