  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to game and fish; voiding certain action of 
  1.3             the commissioner of natural resources in the border 
  1.4             water angling dispute; appropriating money to 
  1.5             challenge Canadian border waters angling restrictions; 
  1.6             repealing Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 97A.531, 
  1.7             subdivision 5. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.10     Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 97A.531, subdivision 5, is 
  1.11  repealed.  Any action of the commissioner of natural resources 
  1.12  under authority of the repealed subdivision is void. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.14     $100,000 is appropriated from the game and fish fund to the 
  1.15  attorney general for the purpose of examining ways of conducting 
  1.16  a legal challenge in the courts of Ontario or any other 
  1.17  available forum, to actions of that province restricting unduly 
  1.18  the rights of Minnesota residents to take fish by angling in 
  1.19  border waters. 
  1.20     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Sections 1 and 2 are effective the day following final 
  1.22  enactment.
