  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to highways; authorizing issuance of 
  1.3             $1,000,000 in state bonds for a grant program for 
  1.4             replacement of official traffic control signs on town 
  1.5             roads; appropriating money. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; TOWN ROAD SIGNAGE.] 
  1.8      $1,000,000 is appropriated from the bond proceeds fund to 
  1.9   the commissioner of transportation for grants to political 
  1.10  subdivisions to pay the local share of costs of town road sign 
  1.11  replacement under the federal highway administration's hazard 
  1.12  elimination program.  Grants under this subdivision may only be 
  1.13  used for the purchase of signs that conform to the commissioner 
  1.14  of transportation's uniform manual of traffic control devices, 
  1.15  including applicable reflective sheeting requirements, and that 
  1.16  have a useful life of at least 20 years. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [BONDS AUTHORIZED.] 
  1.18     To provide the money appropriated in section 1 from the 
  1.19  bond proceeds fund, the commissioner of finance shall sell and 
  1.20  issue bonds of the state in an amount up to $1,000,000 in the 
  1.21  manner, upon the terms, and with the effect prescribed by 
  1.22  Minnesota Statutes, sections 16A.631 to 16A.675, and by the 
  1.23  Minnesota Constitution, article XI, sections 4 to 7.
