A bill for an act
relating to children's environmental health; establishing requirements for paint
retailers; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 325E.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [325E.386] REQUIREMENTS FOR PAINT RETAILERS.

new text begin A person selling paint to the public in quantities of one gallon or more must do
the following:

new text begin (1) make available copies of the United States Environmental Protection Agency's
"Protecting Your Family From Lead" pamphlet to all paint customers;

new text begin (2) place a poster visible in the paint department that informs customers of the
right to receive a copy of the pamphlet; and
new text end

new text begin (3) offer for sale a lead dust test kit that is capable of determining the presence of
lead-based paint hazards.
