  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to traffic regulations; requiring driver to 
  1.3             stop at scene of accident resulting in alleged bodily 
  1.4             injury; amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 
  1.5             169.09, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 169.09, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [DRIVER TO STOP FOR ACCIDENT WITH PERSON.] 
  1.10  The driver of any vehicle involved in an accident resulting in 
  1.11  immediately demonstrable bodily injury to or death of any 
  1.12  person, or resulting in bodily injury alleged by any person and 
  1.13  made known to the driver, shall immediately stop the vehicle at 
  1.14  the scene of the accident, or as close to the scene as possible, 
  1.15  but shall then return to and in every event, shall remain at, 
  1.16  the scene of the accident until the driver has notified the 
  1.17  appropriate law enforcement agency according to subdivision 6 
  1.18  and fulfilled the requirements of this chapter as to the giving 
  1.19  of information.  The stop shall be made without unnecessarily 
  1.20  obstructing traffic. 
  1.21     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective July 1, 2003, 
  1.22  and applies to accidents occurring on and after that date.
