  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to employment; appropriating money for 
  1.3             employment support services. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $....... is appropriated for the 2002-2003 biennium from 
  1.7   the general fund to the commissioner of economic security for 
  1.8   grants for programs that provide employment support services to 
  1.9   persons with mental illness under Minnesota Statutes, sections 
  1.10  268A.13 and 268A.14.  This appropriation shall become part of 
  1.11  the base level funding for this activity for the 2004-2005 
  1.12  biennium.  To be eligible for a grant under this section, a 
  1.13  service provider must demonstrate in its grant application 
  1.14  measurable success in supporting persons with mental illness in 
  1.15  obtaining and retaining employment.  Grants shall be provided to:
  1.16     (1) employment support services providers who became 
  1.17  ineligible for federal vocational rehabilitation grants by 
  1.18  January 1, 2001; 
  1.19     (2) employment support services providers who, by June 30, 
  1.20  2002, will no longer be eligible for federal vocational 
  1.21  rehabilitation grants; and 
  1.22     (3) other employment support services providers, for 
  1.23  employment support services to meet the unmet needs of persons 
  1.24  with mental illness as reported by the commissioner according to 
  2.1   Minnesota Statutes, section 268A.14, subdivision 2.
