  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; requiring commissioner of 
  1.3             transportation to study the use of soybean oil in 
  1.4             diesel engines. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [FEASIBILITY STUDY.] 
  1.7      The commissioner of transportation shall conduct a 
  1.8   feasibility study of the use of soybean oil in diesel engines in 
  1.9   state fleet vehicles for pollution reduction.  The study must 
  1.10  evaluate the energy and economic efficiency of this use, as well 
  1.11  as the effect on the environment. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [REPORT.] 
  1.13     The commissioner shall provide a written report to the 
  1.14  legislature on the results of the feasibility study by February 
  1.15  1, 1998.
