  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; authorizing "rule of 85" 
  1.3             retirement for certain teachers retirement association 
  1.4             members. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [TEACHERS RETIREMENT ASSOCIATION; RULE OF 85.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding any other law to the contrary, a member of 
  1.8   the teachers retirement association as defined in Minnesota 
  1.9   Statutes, section 354.05, subdivision 5, whose attained age plus 
  1.10  credited allowable service totals 85 years is entitled, upon 
  1.11  application, to a retirement annuity in an amount equal to the 
  1.12  normal annuity provided in Minnesota Statutes, section 354.44, 
  1.13  subdivision 6, clause (2), without any reduction by reason of 
  1.14  early retirement. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE; EXPIRATION.] 
  1.16     Section 1 is effective June 1, 2003, and expires July 15, 
  1.17  2003.
