A bill for an act
relating to education; authorizing negotiation of
additional probationary period upon promotion from
assistant principal to principal in schools in cities
of the first class; amending Minnesota Statutes 2004,
section 122A.41, subdivision 5a.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2004, section 122A.41,
subdivision 5a, is amended to read:

Subd. 5a.

Probationary period for principals hired
internally.

A board and the exclusive representative of the
school principals in the district may negotiate a plan for a
probationary period of up to two school years for licensed
teachers employed by the board who are subsequently employed by
the board as a licensed school principal new text begin or assistant principal
and an additional probationary period of up to two years for
licensed assistant principals employed by the board who are
subsequently employed by the board as a licensed school
