A bill for an act
relating to construction codes; prohibiting enforcement of the 2020 National Electric
Code relating to exterior disconnects and arc fault receptacles for homes.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ENFORCEMENT OF 2020 NATIONAL ELECTRIC CODE.

new text begin (a) The commissioner of labor and industry must not enforce or attempt to enforce
provisions in the 2020 National Electric Code (NEC) related to the following:

new text begin (1) the requirements for 250-volt GFCI receptacles and outdoor outlet requirements
found in NEC 210.8(A) and 210.8(F); and

new text begin (2) the requirements for exterior disconnects in single- and two-family dwellings found
in NEC 230.85.

new text begin (b) The prohibition on enforcement under this section is effective until the next code
cycle for adoption of the National Electrical Code.
