A bill for an act
relating to health; appropriating money for grants to assisted living facilities
for assistive technology.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; GRANTS TO ASSISTED LIVING FACILITIES
FOR ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY.

new text begin $5,000,000 for the biennium beginning on July 1, 2015, is appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of health for grants to assisted living facilities providing
services as defined in Minnesota Statutes, section 144G.01, subdivision 2. The grants
must be used to employ assistive technology to help residents remain in the community
as an alternative to placement in a nursing home. An assisted living facility must apply
for a grant on the forms provided by the commissioner and according to the timelines
established by the commissioner. Any unexpended funds in the first year do not cancel
and are available in the second year. This is a onetime appropriation.
