  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to courts; satisfaction of judgments; 
  1.3             requiring court administrators to send notice of 
  1.4             satisfaction of judgments to certain credit reporting 
  1.5             agencies; amending Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 
  1.6             548.15, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 548.15, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 1a.  [NOTICE TO CREDIT REPORTING AGENCIES.] Upon 
  1.11  satisfaction of a judgment as provided under subdivision 1 and 
  1.12  payment of an additional fee equal to the amount required for 
  1.13  filing a satisfaction of judgment under section 357.021, 
  1.14  subdivision 2, clause (6), the court administrator must send a 
  1.15  copy of the document filed under subdivision 1 to the three 
  1.16  credit reporting agencies designated annually by the attorney 
  1.17  general.  By December 31 of each year the attorney general must 
  1.18  determine the three national credit reporting agencies that 
  1.19  provide the largest volume of credit checks nationally and must 
  1.20  provide the names and addresses of those agencies to each court 
  1.21  administrator to be used for purposes of this subdivision during 
  1.22  the following calendar year.
