  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the city of St. Paul; appropriating money 
  1.3             to fund the Harriet Island Redevelopment. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [HARRIET ISLAND REDEVELOPMENT.] 
  1.6      Subdivision 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] $5,000,000 in fiscal year 
  1.7   1998 is appropriated from the general fund to the city of St. 
  1.8   Paul for expenditures necessary to carry out the Harriet Island 
  1.9   Redevelopment in accordance with the Lilydale/Harriet Island 
  1.10  master plan. 
  1.11     Subd. 2.  [LOCAL MATCH REQUIREMENT.] The appropriation in 
  1.12  subdivision 1 is available upon the provision by, or for the 
  1.13  benefit of, the city of St. Paul of $5,000,000 as a local match 
  1.14  earmarked for expenditures necessary to carry out the Harriet 
  1.15  Island Redevelopment. 
  1.16     Subd. 3.  [COMMUNITY INPUT.] Before the appropriation in 
  1.17  subdivision 1 or local match required by subdivision 2 is spent 
  1.18  or obligated, the city of St. Paul must seek public comments on 
  1.19  the Harriet Island Redevelopment. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Section 1 is effective the day following its final 
  1.22  enactment.
