A bill for an act
relating to natural resources; specifying the allocation of money in the parks and
trails fund; amending Minnesota Statutes 2010, sections 85.53, subdivision 1;
85.535, subdivision 1.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 85.53, subdivision 1, is amended to read:

Subdivision 1.

Establishment.

The parks and trails fund is established in the
Minnesota Constitution, article XI, section 15. All money earned by the parks and trails
fund must be credited to the fund. new text begin Subject to appropriation:

new text begin (1) 37 percent of the proceeds to the parks and trails fund may be spent only on
state parks and trails;

new text begin (2) 37 percent of the proceeds to the parks and trails fund may be spent only on
metropolitan parks and trails under subdivision 3; and

new text begin (3) 26 percent of the proceeds to the parks and trails fund may be spent only on
grants under the parks and trails grants program under section 85.535.

Sec. 2.

Minnesota Statutes 2010, section 85.535, subdivision 1, is amended to read:

Subdivision 1.

Establishment.

The commissioner of natural resources shall
administer a program to provide grants from the parks and trails fund to support parks and
trails of regional or statewide significance. Grants shall not be made under this section for new text begin :
