A bill for an act
 relating to public safety; requiring proof of insurance to register, reregister, or
transfer ownership of a motor vehicle or motorcycle; amending Minnesota
Statutes 2014, section 169.798, subdivision 4.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2014, section 169.798, subdivision 4, is amended to read:


Subd. 4.

Every owner, when applying
for motor vehicle or motorcycle registration, reregistration, or transfer of ownership, must

policy.new text begin For the purposes of this subdivision, an owner demonstrates proof of insurance by
providing the insurance company's name, the policy number, and the policy expiration
