  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to data practices; classifying student 
  1.3             evaluation data on instruction in the statewide 
  1.4             university system as public; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1996, section 13.43, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 13.43, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 2b.  [STUDENT EVALUATION OF INSTRUCTORS; DATA 
  1.10  DISCLOSURE.] (a) Summary statistics of student evaluations of 
  1.11  instructors and professors collected and maintained by the 
  1.12  statewide university system are public data subject to 
  1.13  disclosure under this chapter. 
  1.14     (b) "Statewide university system" means state colleges and 
  1.15  universities governed by the board of trustees of the Minnesota 
  1.16  state colleges and universities and the University of Minnesota 
  1.17  governed by the board of regents.
