  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to health; modifying definition of cremation; 
  1.3             amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 149A.02, 
  1.4             subdivision 9. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 149A.02, 
  1.7   subdivision 9, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 9.  [CREMATION.] "Cremation" means the reduction of a 
  1.9   dead human body to essential elements through direct exposure to 
  1.10  intense heat and flame or a combination of heat and alkaline 
  1.11  hydrolysis and the repositioning or movement of the body during 
  1.12  the process to facilitate reduction, the processing of the 
  1.13  remains after removal from the cremation chamber, placement of 
  1.14  the processed remains in a cremated remains container, and 
  1.15  release of the cremated remains to an appropriate party.
