  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to medical assistance; abolishing the 
  1.3             hospital surcharge for certain medical assistance 
  1.4             costs; appropriating money; repealing Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 2000, sections 256.9657, subdivision 2; and 
  1.6             256B.19, subdivision 1b. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.9      $54,476,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.10  commissioner of human services for the fiscal year beginning 
  1.11  July 1, 2001, for medical assistance costs.  This appropriation 
  1.12  shall become part of base level funding and shall be increased 
  1.13  each year by the change in the Consumer Price Index-All Items, 
  1.14  United States city average (CPI-U) forecasted by Data Resources, 
  1.15  Inc. using the indices as forecasted in the first quarter of 
  1.16  each calendar year for the subsequent fiscal year. 
  1.17     Sec. 2.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.18     Minnesota Statutes 2000, sections 256.9657, subdivision 2; 
  1.19  and 256B.19, subdivision 1b, are repealed effective July 1, 2001.
