A bill for an act
relating to agriculture; appropriating money to the Minnesota Institute for
Sustainable Agriculture at the University of Minnesota for alternative livestock
research and outreach.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin ALTERNATIVE LIVESTOCK RESEARCH AND OUTREACH.

new text begin $125,000 in fiscal year 2008 and $125,000 in fiscal year 2009 are appropriated from
the general fund to the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota for alternative
livestock research and outreach efforts at the Minnesota Institute for Sustainable
Agriculture. The funds must be spent on research and the dissemination of findings
related to alternative and pasture-based livestock operations including forages appropriate
for grass-based livestock production, livestock genetics, and marketing in sustainable
agricultural systems.
