  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; providing rate increases 
  1.3             for certain nursing facilities; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 2000, section 256B.431, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 256B.431, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 31.  [RATE INCREASE TO MEDIAN; EFFECTIVE JULY 1, 
  1.10  2001.] Before calculating any other rate increase, the 
  1.11  commissioner shall determine the median total payment rate for 
  1.12  all 11 case mix classes for nursing homes in the Minneapolis-St. 
  1.13  Paul seven-county metropolitan area that are reimbursed under 
  1.14  this section or section 256B.434.  A nursing facility in 
  1.15  Hennepin county licensed for 94 beds whose rates for any of the 
  1.16  11 classes are below the median shall receive the difference 
  1.17  between its total payment rate for each case mix class and the 
  1.18  median of that class as an increase to its total payment rates 
  1.19  effective July 1, 2001.  This increase shall be included in the 
  1.20  rates paid to such nursing home in subsequent rate years under 
  1.21  this section or section 256B.434. 
  1.22     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.23     Section 1 is effective July 1, 2001.
