A bill for an act
relating to higher education; providing funding to the Board of Regents of the
University of Minnesota for the purpose of advancing the educational experience
of all University of Minnesota students; appropriating money.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA.

new text begin The sums indicated in this section are appropriated from the general fund to the
Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota for the purposes stated:

new text begin (1) $5,400,000 in fiscal year 2008 and $12,900,000 in fiscal year 2009 are
appropriated to provide the highest quality educational programs to the University of
Minnesota's undergraduate, graduate, and professional students in academic programs,
academic and career support, and financial support;

new text begin (2) $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2008 and $1,500,000 in fiscal year 2009 are appropriated
to sustain the University of Minnesota libraries' current collection commitment and to
build this resource through new acquisitions;

new text begin (3) $1,000,000 in fiscal year 2008 and $2,000,000 in fiscal year 2009 are appropriated
to support the interdisciplinary scholarship in the Institute for Advanced Study;

new text begin (4) $5,000,000 in fiscal year 2008 and $10,000,000 in fiscal year 2009 are
appropriated to support targeted core academic programs; and

to support new technologies in research, educational, and security infrastructure; student
and educational services; and high performance networks.
