  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             proposing an amendment to the Minnesota Constitution, 
  1.3             article I; providing that the right of citizens to 
  1.4             bear arms for certain purposes is fundamental and 
  1.5             shall not be abridged. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT PROPOSED.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [AMENDMENT PROPOSED.] An amendment to the 
  1.9   Minnesota Constitution, adding a section to article I, is 
  1.10  proposed to the people of the state.  If the amendment is 
  1.11  adopted, the section will read: 
  1.12     Sec. 18.  The right of a citizen to keep and bear arms for 
  1.13  the defense and security of the person, family, or home, or for 
  1.14  lawful hunting, recreation, or marksmanship training is 
  1.15  fundamental and shall not be abridged. 
  1.16     Subd. 2.  [SUBMISSION TO VOTERS.] The amendment shall be 
  1.17  submitted at the 2002 general election.  The question submitted 
  1.18  shall be: 
  1.19     "Shall the Minnesota Constitution be amended to provide 
  1.20  that the right of a citizen to keep and bear arms for the 
  1.21  defense and security of the person, family, or home, or for 
  1.22  lawful hunting, recreation, or marksmanship training is 
  1.23  fundamental and shall not be abridged? 
  1.24                                     Yes .......
  1.25                                     No ........"
