A bill for an act
relating to agriculture; appropriating money for the agricultural growth, research,
and innovation program.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION; AGRICULTURAL GROWTH, RESEARCH,
AND INNOVATION PROGRAM.

new text begin Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 41A.12, subdivision 3, $2,000,000 is
appropriated from the general fund in fiscal years 2014 and 2015 for the following purposes:

new text begin (1) $500,000 each year to the Agricultural Utilization Research Institute;
new text end

new text begin (2) $500,000 each year to the Minnesota Agriculture Education Leadership Council
for grants to high schools that reestablish agriculture education programs;
new text end

new text begin (3) $200,000 each year to the director of the Minnesota Extension Service of the
University of Minnesota for 4-H;

new text begin (4) $800,000 each year to the commissioner of agriculture for grants to the following
organizations:

new text begin (i) $200,000 each year to the Center for Rural Policy and Development;
new text end

new text begin (ii) $200,000 each year to Farmamerica, the Minnesota agricultural interpretive
center;
new text end

new text begin (iii) $200,000 each year to the Minnesota FFA Association; and
new text end

new text begin (iv) $200,000 each year to the Minnesota agriculture and rural leadership program.
