  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to public employment; exempting employees of 
  1.3             public hospitals from any salary and wage rate freeze 
  1.4             that may be imposed by law. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [SALARY AND WAGE RATE FREEZE EXEMPTION.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding any salary and wage rate freeze that may be 
  1.8   imposed by a law enacted during the 2003 legislative session, a 
  1.9   public hospital may increase or contract to increase the salary 
  1.10  or wage rate of any full-time or part-time employee during the 
  1.11  period in which the freeze is in effect.  For purposes of this 
  1.12  section, a public hospital is a hospital owned by a city, 
  1.13  county, or district organization of governmental entities. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.15     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
