A bill for an act
relating to human services; modifying general assistance payments for new
residents; modifying MFIP payments for new residents; proposing coding for
new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapters 256D; 256J.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin [256D.067] GENERAL ASSISTANCE PAYMENTS FOR NEW
RESIDENTS.

new text begin Notwithstanding any other law or rule to the contrary, otherwise eligible applicants
without minor children, who have been residing in the state less than 12 months, shall
be granted general assistance in an amount that, when added to the nonexempt income
actually available to the applicant, shall be no greater than the amount equal to the
lesser of the benefits actually received in the last state of residence or the maximum
benefits allowed under section 256D.06, subdivision 1. Nonexempt income is the income
considered available under Minnesota Rules, parts 9500.1200 to 9500.1254
