  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to retirement; public employees retirement 
  1.3             association; exempting physicians employed by 
  1.4             Springfield community hospital and medical clinic from 
  1.5             coverage. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [SPRINGFIELD HOSPITAL AND CLINIC PHYSICIANS; 
  1.8   PERA MEMBERSHIP TERMINATION.] 
  1.9      Physicians employed by the Springfield community hospital 
  1.10  and medical clinic on the effective date of this act are 
  1.11  excluded from membership in the public employees retirement 
  1.12  association and are entitled to select either a refund of 
  1.13  contributions or a deferred annuity under Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.14  section 353.34, subdivisions 1, 2, and 3.  If a refund is paid, 
  1.15  the refund must include employee contributions withheld from 
  1.16  salary and omitted employee contributions paid by the employee 
  1.17  or employer under Minnesota Statutes, section 353.27, 
  1.18  subdivision 12.  Selection must be made within 30 days following 
  1.19  the effective date of this section.  Failure to make a selection 
  1.20  shall be deemed to be selection of a refund. 
  1.21     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
