  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to notaries; providing licensed peace 
  1.3             officers with the powers of a notary public for 
  1.4             administering oaths upon information submitted to 
  1.5             establish probable cause; amending Minnesota Statutes 
  1.6             1994, section 358.15. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 358.15, is 
  1.9   amended to read: 
  1.10     358.15 [EX OFFICIO NOTARY PUBLIC.] 
  1.11     The following officers have the powers of a notary public 
  1.12  within the state: 
  1.13     (1) every member of the legislature, while still a resident 
  1.14  in the district from which elected; but no fee or compensation 
  1.15  may be received for exercising these powers.  The form of the 
  1.16  official signature in these cases is:  "A.B., Representative (or 
  1.17  Senator), .......................................  District, 
  1.18  Minnesota, ex officio notary public.  My term expires January 1, 
  1.19  19.....;" 
  1.20     (2) the clerks or recorders of towns, and cities; and 
  1.21     (3) court commissioners, county recorders, and county 
  1.22  auditors, and their several deputies, and county commissioners, 
  1.23  all within their respective counties.; and 
  1.24     (4) peace officers licensed under section 626.845 for the 
  1.25  purpose of administering oaths upon information submitted to 
  1.26  establish probable cause to any judge or judicial officer under 
  2.1   the Rules of Criminal Procedure.  The form of the official 
  2.2   signature in these cases is "A.B., Peace Officer License Number 
  2.3   ......., ....... County, Minnesota.  My license expires June 30, 
  2.4   19..."
