A bill for an act
 relating to capital investment; appropriating money for Minnesota rail service
improvement.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin MINNESOTA RAIL SERVICE IMPROVEMENT.

new text begin $1,000,000 is appropriated from the rail service improvement account in the special
revenue fund to the commissioner of transportation for a grant to the city of Grand Rapids
to fund rail planning studies, design, and preliminary engineering relating to the construction
of a freight rail line located in the counties of Itasca, St. Louis, and Lake to serve local
producers and shippers. The city of Grand Rapids shall collaborate with the Itasca Economic
Development Corporation and the Itasca County Regional Railroad Authority in the activities
funded with the proceeds of this grant. This appropriation is available until June 30, 2019.
