  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the environment; authorizing payment for 
  1.3             failing individual sewage treatment systems from the 
  1.4             environment and natural resources trust fund; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 116P.08, subdivision 
  1.6             1. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 116P.08, 
  1.9   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subdivision 1.  [EXPENDITURES.] Money in the trust fund may 
  1.11  be spent only for: 
  1.12     (1) the reinvest in Minnesota program as provided in 
  1.13  section 84.95, subdivision 2; 
  1.14     (2) research that contributes to increasing the 
  1.15  effectiveness of protecting or managing the state's environment 
  1.16  or natural resources; 
  1.17     (3) collection and analysis of information that assists in 
  1.18  developing the state's environmental and natural resources 
  1.19  policies; 
  1.20     (4) enhancement of public education, awareness, and 
  1.21  understanding necessary for the protection, conservation, 
  1.22  restoration, and enhancement of air, land, water, forests, fish, 
  1.23  wildlife, and other natural resources; 
  1.24     (5) capital projects for the preservation and protection of 
  1.25  unique natural resources; 
  1.26     (6) activities that preserve or enhance fish, wildlife, 
  2.1   land, air, water, and other natural resources that otherwise may 
  2.2   be substantially impaired or destroyed in any area of the state; 
  2.3      (7) alternative wastewater treatment feasibility and 
  2.4   facility plans designed to correct failing individual sewage 
  2.5   treatment systems; 
  2.6      (8) administrative and investment expenses incurred by the 
  2.7   state board of investment in investing deposits to the trust 
  2.8   fund; and 
  2.9      (8) (9) administrative expenses subject to the limits in 
  2.10  section 116P.09.
