  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; allowing the commissioner to 
  1.3             award grants to other schools; amending Laws 1996, 
  1.4             chapter 412, article 4, section 34, subdivision 4. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Laws 1996, chapter 412, article 4, section 34, 
  1.7   subdivision 4, is amended to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 4.  [COMMUNITY-BASED CHARTER SCHOOL GRANT.] For a 
  1.9   grant for community-based charter schools or other school 
  1.10  located in independent school district No. 625, St. Paul: 
  1.11       $300,000     .....     1997 
  1.12     The commissioner may establish criteria and any reporting 
  1.13  or match requirements for the grant under this section. 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.15     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
