  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for special education 
  1.3             cross-subsidy aid; appropriating money; proposing 
  1.4             coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 125A.
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [125A.795] [SPECIAL EDUCATION CROSS-SUBSIDY 
  1.7   AID.] 
  1.8      For fiscal year 2002 and later, a school district shall 
  1.9   receive an amount of aid equal to a district's unfunded special 
  1.10  education costs that have been cross-subsidized by a district's 
  1.11  general education revenue as documented by the most recent 
  1.12  report to the commissioner under section 123B.143, subdivision 
  1.13  1, clause (5). 
  1.14     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.15     $....... in fiscal year 2002 and $....... in fiscal year 
  1.16  2003 are appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner 
  1.17  of children, families, and learning for special education 
  1.18  cross-subsidy aid under section 1.
