relating to higher education; appropriating money for improving and expanding
teaching and learning in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin $10,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Board of Trustees of the
Minnesota State Colleges and Universities for the fiscal biennium ending June 30, 2009,
for activities supporting the improvement and expansion of teaching and learning in
science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM), including: increasing student
enrollment in STEM courses; increasing building capacity to support increased STEM
enrollment; enhancing the relevance and promoting career opportunities in STEM fields;
increasing the number of secondary science and mathematics teachers; and improving the
math and science skills and knowledge of K-12 teachers.
