  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to natural resources; appropriating money for 
  1.3             the conservation reserve enhancement program. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [MINNESOTA RIVER BASIN CONSERVATION RESERVE 
  1.6   ENHANCEMENT PROGRAM; APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $51,500,000 in fiscal year 2002 is appropriated from the 
  1.8   general fund to the board of water and soil resources for the 
  1.9   Minnesota river basin conservation reserve enhancement program.  
  1.10  This appropriation must be used to acquire easements and 
  1.11  implement conservation practices on frequently flooded cropland, 
  1.12  including land within the 100-year floodplain and the major 
  1.13  tributaries; on marginal cropland along rivers and streams; and 
  1.14  on drained or altered wetlands in the Minnesota river basin to 
  1.15  protect soil, enhance water quality, and support fish and 
  1.16  wildlife habitat as provided in Minnesota Statutes, sections 
  1.17  103F.515 and 103F.516.  Up to $8,500,000 of this appropriation 
  1.18  may be used for professional and technical services necessary to 
  1.19  acquire the easements and administer the program.  This 
  1.20  appropriation is available until spent.
