A bill for an act
relating to emergency medical services; authorizing local units of government to
charge a fee for use of public systems and for certain prehospital care; proposing
coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 144E.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

new text begin (a) For purposes of this section, the following terms
have the meanings given.

new text begin (b) "Local unit of government" means a statutory or home rule charter city, county,
or joint power authority.

new text begin (c) "Unscheduled prehospital care" means emergency services provided in response
to 911 calls or other emergency communications.

new text begin A local unit of government may charge a fee to
any licensed private ambulance service that provides services within the local unit
of government's jurisdiction for the use of public systems and for any unscheduled
prehospital care provided by a first responder or rescue squad agency.
