  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; requiring the department 
  1.3             of human services to request a waiver from the federal 
  1.4             government to allow the expansion of the Minnesota 
  1.5             family investment program. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [FEDERAL WAIVER TO EXPAND THE MINNESOTA FAMILY 
  1.8   INVESTMENT PROGRAM.] 
  1.9      The commissioner of human services shall request a waiver 
  1.10  as soon as possible from the United States Department of Health 
  1.11  and Human Services to allow the expansion of the Minnesota 
  1.12  family investment program into Beltrami, Cass, Itasca, 
  1.13  Clearwater, and Hubbard counties.  If the waiver is approved, 
  1.14  the commissioner shall report the cost of implementing the 
  1.15  waiver to the chairs of the appropriate senate and house 
  1.16  committees.
