  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the Paynesville area hospital district; 
  1.3             authorizing the district to annex the city of Richmond 
  1.4             to the district.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [PAYNESVILLE AREA HOSPITAL DISTRICT.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding the contiguity requirement of Minnesota 
  1.8   Statutes, section 447.36, the Paynesville area hospital 
  1.9   district, organized in 1992 by resolutions of the Paynesville 
  1.10  city council and the Paynesville town board, may annex the city 
  1.11  of Richmond to the district upon receipt of a resolution 
  1.12  requesting annexation by the Richmond city council.  The 
  1.13  annexation shall otherwise comply with Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.14  sections 447.31 to 447.50, including the referendum provision of 
  1.15  Minnesota Statutes, section 447.36.  
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Under Minnesota Statutes, section 645.023, subdivision 1, 
  1.18  paragraph (a), section 1 is effective without local approval on 
  1.19  the day following final enactment.
