  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; adjusting Medicare 
  1.3             inpatient rates for long-term hospitals; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 256.969, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 256.969, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 25.  For admissions occurring on or after April 1, 
  1.10  1995, a long-term hospital as designated by Medicare that does 
  1.11  not have admissions in the base year shall have inpatient rates 
  1.12  established at the average of other hospitals with the same 
  1.13  designation.  For subsequent rate-setting periods in which base 
  1.14  years are updated, the hospital's base year shall be the first 
  1.15  Medicare cost report filed with the long-term hospital 
  1.16  designation and shall remain in effect until it falls within the 
  1.17  same period as other hospitals.
