  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to economic development; providing targeted 
  1.3             funding for the Minnesota investment fund; 
  1.4             appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; DEPARTMENT OF TRADE AND 
  1.7   ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.] 
  1.8      $15,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund in fiscal 
  1.9   year 2001 to the commissioner of trade and economic development 
  1.10  for the purposes of the Minnesota investment fund program under 
  1.11  Minnesota Statutes, section 116J.8731.  Financial assistance 
  1.12  provided under this section is not subject to Minnesota 
  1.13  Statutes, sections 116J.8731, subdivisions 3, 4, 5, and 7; and 
  1.14  116J.993.  This appropriation must be used for financial 
  1.15  assistance in the area contained in independent school districts 
  1.16  Nos. 696, Ely; 2154, Eveleth-Gilbert; 2711, Mesabi East; and 
  1.17  706, Virginia; and the former independent school districts Nos. 
  1.18  708, Tower-Soudan; and 692, Babbitt-Embarrass.  This 
  1.19  appropriation is available immediately and does not cancel. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
